Arcane Roots release brand new single ‘Indigo’

ARCANE ROOTS today release their brand new single ‘Indigo’ from forthcoming sophomore album ‘Melancholia Hymns’ (released through Easy Life on Friday Sept 15th). The track was premiered last night (Sept 11th) on Radio 1 with Annie Mac as the Hottest Record (the bands 2nd Hottest Record in a row, following last single ‘Off The Floor’),
which you can listen to again – HERE

The band have already released singles ‘Curtains’, ‘Matter’ and recent
Annie Mac Hottest Record In The World ‘Off The Floor’.

Front man Andrew Groves explains a bit more about the song:
“Indigo is the favourite colour of the late Dr Oliver Sacks, a British neurologist & author who died from liver cancer in 2015 at the age of 82. A brilliant mind, infamous for his writing & unique approach towards both his patients & his own neurological disorders, he once hallucinated the colour indigo after self medicating in an attempt to understand his patients own hallucinations better. Shortly before his death, he wrote about his life in great detail along with his intense personal struggles regarding his sexuality, which frequently tinged his illustrious life with great sadness & despair. Dr Sacks’ final notes truly feel like the first intellectualisation of life & his imminent death; the beauty, the regrets, the cherished and the great unknown.

Written with such candor & grace, his final thoughts and feelings really resonated with me, but yet also left me filled with sadness for the way in which he suffered for his work and his sexuality.
Indigo is somewhat of a tribute to Dr Oliver Sacks, Alan Turing and the other great minds of our time who furthered humanity so far, yet suffered so much at the hands of society. We benefitted so much from their brief time on earth, yet gave so very little in return.”
