Dead! release brand new video for ‘Up For Ran$om’

Dead! have released a brand new video for their track  ‘UP FOR RAN$OM’! You can check out the video below…

“As an English band, Top of The Pops always seemed like a rite of passage; we’re not happy letting that go, so we got our label to pay for a video where we can pretend. It’s basically the next best thing …”

UP FOR RAN$OM is a ballsy, explosive take on British rock and truly encapsulates the visceral, raw sound that DEAD! are steadily becoming known for. “I was walking back from a 24-hour garage one night and got the hook in my head,” says singer Alex Mountford. “The song is not about me, it’s about a character and a story. People should derive their own meaning from what they hear. But don’t be held to ransom; make your own choices and don’t be easily swayed.”

The track, which was recently premiered by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, is the fourth single since the band signed a major record deal with Infectious Music. It follows last year’s YOU’RE SO CHEAP and SOMETHING MORE ORIGINAL, and ENOUGH ENOUGH ENOUGH from April of this year. As the UK begins to anticipate the debut album from these young Soho punks, the band remain silent on its progress.

But, then, DEAD! have always been a band to do things their own way and, to mark the release of UP FOR RAN$OM, they embark on a full UK tour … avoiding the usual hotspots of London and Manchester and Birmingham and instead taking their supremely energetic live show to Doncaster and Dover and St Albans. The opening night in Glasgow will see the boys go back to their DIY roots of self-promoting and running everything by themselves. The band now brand these as DAMNED RESTLESS FUTURE shows, as a tribute to their loyal contingent of fans who have followed them since their infancy.

As the band say, “Everyone knows someone from an older generation who talks about seeing The Clash or a band at a squat or a house show. We put on these unorthodox gigs for our fans and ourselves so we can also get a piece of that magic. Hopefully in turn, it will be something that our fans can tell stories about to a younger generation one day. It’s all about bringing the danger and the excitement back to live rock music. We book the venue ourselves, we book the other bands and we put on the perfect show. Sometimes in quite surreal settings”.

The tour finishes at Bestival, which marks the end of a busy festival season for DEAD! that has seen them play Download, Live at Leeds and Kendal Calling alongside a few stints in mainland Europe.
