“Sea Girls, seagulls, get it? You’d think this summery quartet with a sound that gives a nod to the best of British indie like Catfish & The Bottlemen, Nothing But Thieves and The Amazons would be from the depths of Torquay or the far reaches of a Cornish beach, with enough seaside vibe for an arcade pier. But you’d be wrong. Sea Girls are a four piece from Leicestershire and Kent who are starting to make a name for themselves… a very large stone’s throw away from the nearest stretch of sea”. Henry and Rory originally hail from Lincoln whilst Oli, born in Hong Kong, grew up in Leicestershire. Andrew grew up in Kent as a child via stints in Indonesia and Sri Lanka later settling in Leicestershire.
Now 23, the band have been friends since school playing in rival bands and coming together to form Sea Girls in 2015. As a band they started out as a very different format. Oli was the singer, Rory on guitar, Henry now the singer and guitar player was the bassist and Andrew played a ‘K Oscillator’ weird synth, which he thought “sounded pretty cool”. Over time tastes change!
Henry continues “Our music sounds different now and we’ve shifted around instruments, but we have stuck together and developed our Sea Girls sound. We want to make diverse interesting music by constantly improving. If we can produce songs that make you get up spin around and then cry, we’re happy. I guess the ultimate would be for people to relate an experience or part of their life to our music and for us to grow with them”

They’ve recently played their first UK festivals in Leeds, Manchester and Cardiff expecting no one to turn up, but ended up playing to packed venues.
“When people sing your songs back at you and they start climbing on shoulders it makes you feel like you’ve been doing the right thing and it’s something really special” Henry elaborates
They are looking forward to their first UK headline tour in February next year.
“We’ll have our second EP out by then, so more music for people to sink their teeth into. We played a lot of gigs before we ever went into the studio, so want anyone who watches us to feel like they have been to a unique show.”
