The Devil Wears Prada premire new video for ‘Planet A’

The Devil Wears Prada has premiered the first video from their concept EP “Space,” which is released today, Friday 21st August. The track “Planet A” tells the story of Elizabeth, an interstellar explorer who captains a star ship through the galaxies, subsequently suffering a horrible malfunction that sets the stage for the rest of the EP.

The Devil Wears Prada’s choice of directors was unorthodox for a metalcore band, choosing Casey Pierce who directed Torres’ videos “Strange Hellos” and “Sprinters.” But then Prada’s artistic approach has always been indie-minded, challenging creative boundaries whenever possible. As Noisey wrote in yesterday’s video premiere, “[the video] gets wildly abstract, a continuation in the band’s attention to detail when it comes to visuals. One take can even be the journey into space representing birth, survival and inevitable demise. Or like, cool space shit.” And as Rock Sound points out, the band “transcends the comfort zone of many a metalcore band”

The Devil Wears Prada’s “Space” EP is a six-track collection of thematic songs that each explores a different point of view of space and those things that exist outside of the Earth’s province – the sun, the moon, aliens, asteroids, and the interstellar space explorer. And of course, all songs are Prada’s signature post-hardcore. “Space” is TDWP’s second EP, the first, 2010’s critically-acclaimed “Zombies,” was a Top 10 Billboard hit.
