Zac Farro’s Halfnoise release video for ‘Flowerss’

Zac Farro’s HALFNOISE are pleased to announce a six-date headline run in the Eastern US – kicking off on May 5th in Chicago, the tour hits Brooklyn, Boston, Philadelphia, and DC before wrapping in the band’s hometown of Nashville on May 13th.  News of the Spring dates precedes a set of West Coast headline shows taking place this month and the PARAHOY! cruise in April, and comes on the heels of HALFNOISE announcing its new EP Flowerss out on May 4th via Nashville collective Congrats.  The band are also excited to drop its new video for the title-track today, via an exclusive premiere with NYLON magazine, which you check out HERE.The “Flowerrs” video was directed by NYC-based artist Alex Kranzusch (aka Ghostpoop) who used a verity of media – layering computer animation, water colors, painting, block work, and hand drawings over Zac’s solo performance of the track.

I really vibed with this song walking around Brooklyn in the winter. There is so much texture in this track, it made me think of the depth of light and color that differs spring and winter. That texture has an intangible quality that I feel is represented in Zac’s music. I experimented with different mediums that I felt reflected the spontaneous energy felt letting ‘Flowerss’ fill my brain for the past month or so. I used both watercolor and pastels to animate some of the layers that paired with the guitar leads, and digital brushes to animate more of the chugging guitars and heavier drums. I was inspired by late 70s, American animators like Suzan Pitt. I really love her willingness to experiment with different mediums to create and contribute to her narrative in the short film ‘Asparagus’. It was this sensibility that reminded me of Zac’s approach to creating his art. – Alex Kranzusch

HALFNOISE has stayed busy since 2016’s Sudden Feeling LP, releasing last year’s critically-acclaimed The Velvet Face EP, embarking on national support tours, and recently selling-out several headline dates – including shows in London, NYC and Nashville.  Originally Zac’s solo venture, HALFNOISE has evolved into a full band over the last several years, comprised of his closest friends and collaborators – many of whom also join him on the road while playing in Paramore.  The tight-knit crew seamlessly blend the psychedelic vibe of 60’s rock band’s like The Beatles and The Beach Boys with modern textures and melodies, comparable to contemporaries like Tame Impala and Toro Y Moi.  Recently, Noisey described the band as “a fusion of indie rock that’s part sunny and fruity, part trippy and psychedelic,” while The FADER has also celebrated the band’s ability to blend “surf-rock’s friendly intimacy with the broad, borderless horizons of psychedelia.”

HALFNOISE’s Spring headline tour kicks-off on May 5th – following the May 4th release of the Flowerss EP – and tickets are available this Friday, March 9th.   You can also catch the band on a West Coast headline tour this month, and floating around The Bahamas on the PARAHOY! cruise in April.  The title-track “Flowerss” is available now via all DSPs and you can watch the official video HERE.  For all up-to-date information, please stay tuned to www.HALFNOISEMUSIC.com!
